I really need to get this manual thing down.
Otherwise the thing felt fast even though you weren’t going very fast.

My father in law stopped by to visit yesterday. He was giving my niece a lesson driving a manual transmission in her dad’s Golf R. I didn’t know they were coming, and saw them stuck pulling into the driveway, she stalled it there. When they were heading out...he said “I’ll dive back”. I think it was a bit of a rocky lesson, but she’s only 16. She’ll learn.

If you don’t make a mistake and slip the clutch all the time, it’ll be worn out in an afternoon. If you stall it, you’re learning.

It could just be the car. I’ve owned mine for around 9 months and I still haven’t figured it out. It’s a shitty, feel free clutch. I learned how to drive a stick when I was 7, and I’m 22 now, so it’s not like it was my learner car. It’s quite irritating, honestly.

I taught 4 people to drive a manual in my SRT-4. My sister, my cousin, my future brother-in-law (my sister’s husband) and a co-worker’s son.

Solution: buy an expensive car like I did as your first manual.

Really? Is there a chance you have a bad clutch or slave cylinder? Mine has been very tactile. I’ve taught a few girlfriends on it. Much more tactile than my old Jetta and much more forgiving than my old Audi 200 20v turbo.

Both that I’ve driven brand new have felt the same. It’s the second worst feeling trans/clutch I’ve used, behind an Aveo. And I’ve seen threads of other people complaining about it, I’ve seen people not buy one because of it. I’ve seen people defending Ford for wheb people bring it in because it feels broken, “because that’s how it’s supposed to feel” like it’s a rite of passage. Getting out of my work’s 300k mile Tacoma and into the FiST is a disappointment when it comes to the clutch. I’m just tired of seeing people defend it. It’s a fun car, but there are some really shitty parts on it.

I think it’s a Ford thing. I had similar issues hopping into a FoST.

Same clutch/trans.

It has to be a revision because I have heard literally nothing but the exact opposite for the 2014s. And by feel alone, I know the fist that I own has a solid setup. No mods at all. In fact, I don’t even want a short throw. I feel like it’s good as is.

They have fucked with it over the years. For 2016 we get leaky CV’s, a lower redline(or shitty fuel cutoff), flywheel issues, loose up pipes, etc.
I haven’t had any of these issues yet, but yeah. But Google Fiesta ST transmission issues, it’s all years.
I can’t say I want to dump it, but if I got ST cursed and it got written off, I wouldn’t get another one. Or another Ford car.
